Celebrating Our 2026 Maloney Alumni Dollars for Scholars Recipients!

On May 28th, at the annual Maloney Awards Night, Members of the Maloney classes of 1971, 1973, 1975 and 1976 proudly presented five scholarships from the Maloney Alumni Dollars for Scholars fund to four incredibly deserving graduates. Thanks to the generosity of our community, these exceptional students are heading off to college with the financial support they need to pursue their dreams.

Arielyz Candelaria Ramos

  • Awards: The Arlene Barret Geffken Memorial Scholarship ($10,000 per year for 4 years, totaling $40,000) & The Janiga Family Cornerstone Award ($500)
  • Future Plans: Attending the University of Connecticut, majoring in Nursing with the goal of becoming a midwife.
  • In Her Own Words:

"This scholarship is more than financial support; it's an opportunity to serve others. One act of generosity has given me the chance to become a midwife nurse, and I hope to pay that kindness forward with every life I touch."

Christodea Karikari

  • Award: Maloney Alumni Dollars for Scholars Scholarship ($2,500)
  • Future Plans: Attending Southern Connecticut State University, majoring in Biology with the goal of becoming a pediatrician.
  • In Her Own Words:

"This scholarship has been a reminder that all of my hard work and dedication have not gone unrecognized and that my results show the strength that all first-generation students are capable of overcoming expectations..."

Ryan Bentouil

  • Award: Maloney Alumni Dollars for Scholars Scholarship ($2,500)
  • Future Plans: Attending the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton, majoring in Business.
  • In His Own Words:

"When I received this scholarship, the weight of life after high school on my shoulders felt a lot easier... In finance, we call this 'De-risking.'"

DeeDee Bennett-Highsmith

  • Award: Maloney Alumni Dollars for Scholars Scholarship ($2,500)
  • Future Plans: Attending the University of Connecticut in the Bachelor of Science Nursing Program.
  • In Her Own Words:

"This scholarship will not just be helping me, but also every future patient who will receive competent care because of the support I have received from this organization."
